Leadership Spotlight: Mark Watson, Vice President of Franchise Development

July 6, 2026

How a career spent on both sides of franchising shaped one of Enviro-Master®’s newest executives.

Enviro-Master® is in a period of deliberate growth. The brand has spent more than a decade refining its model, validating its systems, and building a franchise network that now spans more than 180 territories across the United States and Canada. The next phase requires something different: experienced leadership capable of identifying the right operators, developing the right markets, and supporting franchisees at scale.

Mark Watson is part of that investment.

Watson joined Enviro-Master® in April 2026 as Vice President of Franchise Development. He is responsible for leading the brand’s franchise growth strategy, managing the sales pipeline, and overseeing expansion initiatives. His arrival is consistent with a broader pattern at Enviro-Master®. The brand has been actively recruiting seasoned executives to strengthen its leadership team and position the system for the next stage of national growth.

A Career Built on Both Sides of the Franchise Table

Watson brings nearly two decades of experience across sales leadership, operations, and franchise development. His career began in large-scale retail operations. He spent nine years at Target as a Business Operations Manager, where he oversaw teams of up to 100 employees, managed a $1.2 million annual budget, and developed more than 30 leaders over his tenure. His team led the entire Target distribution network in safety, profitability, and budget efficiency.

That foundation in operational discipline and team development shaped Watson’s approach to franchise growth. Leading a high-performing team at scale, he learned early that systems and people are equally important.

He later moved into franchise development, spending nearly seven years with The Joint Chiropractic in roles that progressed from regional operations to Senior Manager of Franchise Sales and Development. There, he built expertise in candidate recruitment, territory expansion, and franchise onboarding.

What makes Watson’s background distinctive is that he did not stay on the franchisor side of the business. He became a franchisee himself. Watson is currently a co-owner and area developer for Yonutz Donuts and Ice Cream in the Phoenix market. That experience gives him a perspective most franchise development professionals do not have.

“The connections I have made across the industry and my mentorships have prepared me most for this role,” Watson says.

What He Looks for in a Candidate

Watson is direct about the qualities that distinguish franchisees who succeed in the Enviro-Master® system.

“Business acumen, an entrepreneurial mindset, and sales-driven leadership,” are the qualities he believes successful franchisees tend to share.

He is equally direct about the misconceptions that can derail candidates before they get started. The Enviro-Master® model is built on recurring revenue and long-term customer relationships, but it is not a passive investment.

“This is not an absentee business,” Watson says. “A set-it-and-forget-it mentality will not work here.”

Successful franchisees understand that building a route-based B2B business requires active ownership, consistent sales activity, and ongoing relationship management. Watson looks for candidates who understand that distinction and are prepared to lead accordingly.

What the Model Offers

Watson was drawn to Enviro-Master® for reasons that align closely with what his candidates find most compelling about the opportunity.

“This model has so much growth potential being recurring B2B,” he says. “Any business is a customer of ours, which allows us to scale with endless potential.”

That breadth of the addressable market is a consistent theme in his conversations with prospective owners. Enviro-Master® serves restaurants, healthcare facilities, gyms, offices, retail stores, schools, automotive dealerships, and manufacturing facilities, among others. A franchisee is not limited to a narrow customer segment. Territories are structured around commercial density rather than population, and the brand’s eight service lines mean existing accounts can generate increasing revenue as the relationship develops.

Watson also points to the model’s durability as a factor that resonates with serious candidates.

“We are recession-resistant, AI-proof, and sales-driven,” he says. Businesses will always need their facilities cleaned and sanitized. That work cannot be outsourced to software or easily eliminated in a downturn.

Where the Brand Is Headed

Watson sees significant runway ahead for Enviro-Master®, and he describes the brand’s current position as one of early-stage momentum rather than maturity.

“We are just scratching the surface,” he says. “There are multiple opportunities to scale and develop across the country.”

For Watson, the most meaningful part of that growth is what it represents for the people who invest in it.

“What I enjoy most is helping entrepreneurs create generational wealth and provide a future for their family,” he says. “That is what this is really about.”
